updated list of mixed name ideas (nov 5, 2024)
in this list, there's any type of names (mostly for english-speaking people though): typical first names, noun names, mythology names, etc.
i sorted them into three categories: androgynous, feminine and masculine.
if you have more ideas of names for trans folks, writers, etc, just lemme know! (Can also be not-so-cool names for the writers, we need them for the asshole side characters :3)
i will update the list every time I have a lot of new name suggestions. you can always find the newest list under the tag #updated name list on my profile, which is currently this one.

What Fandoms I Write For & Which Characters
It’s easier for me to write for characters I like versus ones I do not. It is also easier for me to write romantic stories for characters I personally fancy/like.
If the character that you want isn’t there, I’m not doing a certain type of request for them, etc. You can still ask, but please be nice about it if I say I won’t write it.
Characters that are minors/under 18 will NOT be shipped with readers who are over the age of 18. If a character ages throughout (example: Harry Potter) specify which age you want that character. Honestly please, please, PLEASE specify in general!

Bosworth
Elizabeth had once travelled in time, back to the Wars of the Roses and tried to change the history of Richard III, to no avail. She eventually lives out her life in the present day and this is her last day on Earth. In the bigger story she falls in love with him and he marries her instead of Anne Neville.
*I am a giant history nerd and the Wars of the Roses is one of my favorite periods. I've always thought Richard III was maligned and honestly I'm quite salty at Shakespere, Thomas Moore, and all the Tudors. When Phillipa Langley and her team announced the discovery of his body I ate it up. It was an obsession to the point where I own 20 books on the subject. I started writing a larger work as a historical what if but eventually abandoned it because real life sucks. I was reading an interview with Richard Armitage the other day where he said that Richard III was his dream role to play and I got inspired to face claim him as my Richard. (Keeping in mind that Aneurin Barnard's performance in the White Queen was phenomenal). Honestly I would love to have him play an AU Richard who got to live after Bosworth. This scene is meant to be the epilogue for the story I was writing that I hope I can get back to...I still have all my notes and research and I hope that this will get me inspired enough to complete it.
Trigger warning for death, violence, blood and gore.
Fic Masterlist
EPILOGUE BOSWORTH
It has become hard to walk now, but I do it anyway. My bones and body are frail and withering with age and I honestly don’t know how I’ve lived so long. My son is grandfather himself now and he helps me across the uneven ground toward the tree line. I see in him what his father could have become, I see a man whose life he would have been proud of, he has dedicated his life to preserving places like this, places sacred to a man he will never know. He knows who his father is, I never lied to my son and he accepted it as fact, for sixty long years he is the only person to know the truth.
I never left Leicestershire again. Not for good. The items I had with me on my return had served me well and sustained me all these years, providing a trust for my grandchildren should they need it. I still wear Richard’s ring, the one thing I could not bear to be parted from. I feel his heart beating through the smooth gold and I know he is still with me somehow. Every week since they finally laid him to rest I have gone into the Cathedral and sat beside him for hours, telling him of his son, his grandchildren and now great-grandchildren. I think I’ve become as infamous as the tomb I sit beside, I am even part of the tour some days, the mysterious woman who holds vigil and brings a white rose to the grave of a long dead king.
But never once in all that time have I set foot here. Until today. It’s August 22nd and exactly 600 years since the day he died.
The voices of the dead have always haunted me, Anne telling me stories of her vicious lost prince, Margaret and her pious nonsense. I hear George begging for his life, treacherous till his last breath. I wake at night shaking for two lost boys that I couldn’t save. Then, in all this noise I close my eyes and I can hear his voice whispering his love. I hear Richard laugh in my dreams and I can still feel his lips against my cheek as I drift off to sleep. My Richard. I’ve loved no other, content in the raising of our family. I have known all the joy I needed. I know loss and my heart still aches for him with every breath that I take.
He was the other half of my soul, who's leaving tore me apart and left a wound that has never healed.
For the past few days those haunting voices have grown louder and more insistent. They are calling me home and it’s time to answer. Which is why I have come here.
I think that my son understands, in his heart he knows and he has brought me anyway. He stands beside me, tears in his eyes as he surveys the land. For a moment I see him once more as a young man, a carbon copy of his father and my breath catches. I kept him safe, he never knew the horror of battle or the politics of Kings, he has lived the life that Richard never could.
Stepping forward a strange electric sensation assaulting me through the sole of my foot. I am overwhelmed with dizziness and clutch at Rick’s arm.
“This is it.” I whisper. “It was here.”
He nods and kisses my cheek, we have discussed what happens here today.
“I love you mum.” he holds me close and I allow myself to grieve my loss of him for a moment.
“I love you too, and I’ll be watching over you always.”
My strong son, with his father’s courage walks away from me with his head held high.
I am alone on the battlefield.
I feel the energy of the place seeping into my bones from the soil. This fertile field, rich with the blood of the slain. A chill washes over me and I shudder, a great evil was done here and it has haunted the place ever since.
With a deep breath I close my eyes and simply feel. Like the voices of my ghosts I hear the whispering of men, the jingling of armor and the snorts of horses. The air around me charges with energy, the tension and fear thickening the atmosphere. The ground rumbles beneath me and the thunderous battle cry of 1600 men shakes me to the core. I can feel the battle beginning through the earth, the pain and fear of those who fall, I smell sweat, metal, blood and dirt.
I know what I will see when I open my eyes so I try to hold them closed, but I can’t escape what is meant. I must stand here, on this ground and live this moment. A moment lost in time for half a millenia. I have to because he is waiting.
I force my eyes open to see a changed world, there is no peaceful green field, but rather a boggy mess of mud and blood and men as far as I can see. I’m surrounded by the unimaginable horror of medieval battle and I stand frozen in fear as it unfolds around me.
Men fall, screaming into the dirt as their bodies are violently cleaved by swinging swords and axes. The roar of bloodlust mingles with the pitiful cries of the dying. Brave soldiers called out for their mothers even as their insides spilled out into the earth. Sunlight glinted off armor and weapons as the terrible and final battle of the Wars of the Roses played out. I gasped as I saw men I had known, boys who I had coddled, all loyal friends of Richard’s. I called their names, but they could not hear me.
Then, from behind me I heard a call to charge and spinning around my blood jumped in my veins as I watched Richard cutting a swathe with his sword toward where I stood. My magnificent warrior king, his golden crown upon his armored head, pushed through the battle on the horse I had given him. His teeth were bared and his eyes alight with fire as he fought his way bravely toward Henry Tudor. He was merciless in his battle rage and tears filled my eyes at this awful vision of my gentle love.
Go back! I wanted to scream it at the top of my lungs. Turn around and live! I couldn’t bear to see this happen to him. I reached out helplessly, screaming as the sword slice toppled his beloved Storm, sending Richard tumbling into the mud.
“Get up!” I cried, as he struggled to his feet, sword in hand and the enemy surrounding him.
Then I heard it. The rumble of horses and the cries of a new charge. My heart broke at the hope dying in Richard’s eyes as Lord Stanley cried out for Tudor and defeat was etched clearly on my king’s face.
“Treason! Treachery!” he yelled, bringing up his bloodied sword for battle.
Time seemed to stand still as he turned in a circle, surrounded by his bloodthirsty enemy. I saw his pain as he watched his friends cut down and the steely determination in his eyes. He wasn’t going to go down easily.
I wept in great gasping gulps as his sword sliced through the air, he was surrounded as the wolves closed in on him, fighting valiantly for his life. He took down so many that for a moment I thought perhaps there was a chance.
The blow to his head came from nowhere, the weapon, I couldn’t even see what it was, slammed into his skull with such force I could hear his helmet ringing. The metal guard sliced into his jaw, cutting him open to the bone as his helmet went flying away from him, kicked into the mud. A king without his crown.
I stood helpless, screaming as they came at him with daggers, slipping past his battling sword and stabbing at his face. Blood poured down the front of his armor as he fought on. The owner of the dagger that stabbed into his ribs received a slashed torso for his trouble and he fell into the mire, blood bubbling from his mouth to die a slow and agonizing death.
Still they kept coming and still Richard fought on valiantly, my warrior husband and tragic king.
He cried out as a dagger dug into the top of his head, fracturing his skull and, falling to his knees he roared like a caged lion, his face covered in blood and filth. I leapt toward him as though I could spare him this pain and death by shielding him with my own body. I would have died in his place if I could have, anything to spare him from this horror. He was kneeling in the mud searching for his sword as the blow came from behind, he never even saw it coming as the sword sliced over the back of his head. Blood and hair flew in an arc as he slumped forward.
“Richard!” I ran through the ghosts of the battlefield, throwing myself into the dirt.
He still drew breath, his eyes open and dull with pain, tears streaking down his cheeks.
“Elizabeth.” he whispered as the killing blow finally came, the spike of the halbert drilling into his brain with a dull thud.
Richard’s body spasmed but he never gave them the satisfaction of hearing him cry out.
It took only seconds for him to die, for the promise of his life to drain out of his eyes. The Tudor vultures wasted no time in stripping him of anything that might have value. All I could do was cry as they laughed at his naked body, making sport of his curved back.
They took his crown and gave it to the vile Tudor boy but I didn’t move, I had no desire to see them cheer for their murderous new king. I cared for nothing but Richard and the swelling, burning agony of my own heart. The world seemed to spin, tilting and whirling around me as I lost my breath, my sense and my conscious thought. I tried to cling to his body, to touch him and to let his soul know he wasn’t alone, but even this was denied me.
“Elizabeth.”
My eyes opened, blinking in the sunlight, the sounds of battle gone, as was the smell of death. I lay on my back in the green grass of Bosworth with the sky blue overhead and the sun warm on my face. I felt heavy with Grief, my heart aching for Richard’s final moments, the memory of his voice a whisper in the wind.
“Elizabeth.” I saw a figure standing over me, silhouetted in the bright sun. A hand reached down to me.
“It’s time, Elizabeth.”
Tears slid down my cheeks as I reached out for his hand and as he pulled me to my feet I felt the endless sadness peel away and I saw my hand in his, no longer wrinkled and frail but smooth with youth once more.
“I’ve waited so long for you, my love.” his voice breaks as his fingers run over my cheek.
I step away from my mortal body and into Richard’s arms
“I missed you so much.” I sob into his chest, my arms wrapped around his waist.
“I never left you, Elizabeth. I was always here with you.”
He places his hand over my heart. I see the blur of our son as he rushes past us and Richard’s eyes fill with tears. “I wish he could have known me, that I could have held him.”
“He did know you Richard, I made sure of that.”
He nods and leans down to where his namesake and heir kneels beside my lifeless body. Richard whispers something in his son’s ear and I know he hears it. His eyes dart around but he hears no more. Richard is beside me once more and takes my hand.
“Shall we?”
I nod and lean into him, my lips brushing against his as tenderly as the first time he kissed me. We cling to one another as we fade away into forever, the words my son repeats sending us on our way.
“Loyalty Binds Me.”

I completely agree that Shakespeare wasn’t writing Tudor propaganda because like that argument falls flat when he does nothing to portray the Lancastrians in a good light which would have been reversing the damage done to them by Yorkist propaganda but as someone who has scoliosis and I believe I have and even more extreme curve to my spine then R3 had from the images of his spine from when his remains were found were anything to go by and if like I’m not nude you can barely tell my spine is curved so I wouldn’t say his description was accurate because besides him not having a hunchback (i mean odds are given when he was alive and his wealth and statues he most likely even covered the slight rise of one shoulder with lifts in one shoe making even the slight raise of his one shoulder invisible to outsiders but slightly unleveled shoulders aren’t hunchback by any means to start with) there is no evidence of a withered arm. But that description wasn’t even from Shakespeare wasn’t it originally started from a writer who was originally commissioned by r3 to write at court then H7 later commissioned him to finish the book that has that discription in it though I don’t believe the unflattering description was H7 decision or even intention when commissioning him but that it was were the first similar depiction came from and not a creation of Shakespeare but an idea that was already there before him.
Hello there! (First Historical Ask I’m Getting =)) I’m excited )
I agree that he just portrays everyone in a bad light, York and Lancaster both. Henry VII appears as a sort of saviour at the end (in a way even as a champion to those closest to Richard III who he wrongs in the play e.g. Anne Neville, Clarence). However, Henry VII does not play a prominent enough role throughout the play to justify us interpreting it as pro-Lancaster/Tudor propaganda.
I too have mild scoliosis, (or rather, had) and it had never became apparent to those around me. The thing is, the exaggeration of Richard III’s scoliosis is just one more thing that overall that diminishes the persuasive power of Shakespeare’s ‘propaganda’. Since, like you said (and I also deduce from the absence of sources that had commented on Richard III’s uneven figure), this type of scoliosis is easily coverable by strategic clothing and shoe soles. I agree, I too have not found any evidence of a withered arm.
This writer you speak of... Would that be Rous, as in the guy of Rous Rolls fame? Yes, talents aside he seemed quite the opportunist: Starting off in the employ of the Beauchamps Earls of Warwick, then pandering to their political successor Clarence, then onto Richard III and finally to Henry VII for whom he wrote the ‘Historia Regum Angliae’. There he went from his previous praises of Richard III as a ‘good lord’ who was against the ‘oppressors of the commons’ and then proceeded to say how he was born with fully formed teeth, hair and uneven shoulders. The man said much, indeed he even insinuated that he had poisoned his wife Anne Neville and was responsible for the death of Henry VI... He was also a big propegator of the ‘G will depose E, and thus George will depose Edward IV prophecy’ (which I found has earlier Augustinian roots, but I digress). But in any case, do any of these sound familiar? Indeed they all make an appearance in Shakespeare’s Richard III.
Indeed I don’t necessarily see much of Henry VII’s hand in this, Rous was not one of the prominent names associated with the Tudor regime such as More. Given the man’s opportunism, I theorise he wrote the Historia Regum Angliae in this way to curry favour with Henry VII after his previous patrons/lords were all dead (The Beauchamps, Clarence, Richard III). However, I suppose you have sent me this ask because you wanted to tell me that anti-Richard III propaganda is indeed deeper than just Shakespeare and as such it is serious political propaganda.
In a way, yes, but how many people (post 1485 to present) quote Rous? Most of us know him for those illustrations of the Neville-York clan (where he retrospectively played himself by drawing Richard III as upright) Not only was the man’s heyday long gone by then, but his slander against Richard III is so ridiculously unbelievable that I find it hard to think that even a person of that time would have believed any of it. Born with shoulder-length hair? Born with a full set of teeth? It is not hard to see how these never became urban legends. The key to good propaganda (such as that which Warwick and Clarence made against the Woodvilles or Edward IV and Warwick made against the Lancastrians) is believability. As a consequence, even the more believable (and by that I mean physically possible) aspects of his writing e.g. Anne Neville being poisoned by him, have not quite attached themselves to Richard III’s posthumous image, and for a very apparent reason, propaganda is like a package: if a part of it is unbelievable the whole thing fails.
Richard III’s current detractors do not find him to be an evil man because they they read Rous and believed he was hunchbacked, murdered Henry VI or poisoned his wife. We are not medievals after all that think ugly=evil. His current detractors dislike him because they believed him to have often acted in a rapacious manner, contrary to the chivalric standards he saw himself as embodying, during his brother’s reign and because they believe him to be the most logical suspect for the murder of his nephews. Often their arguments are built on references to contemporary facts which show him as the prime suspect and just good old critical thinking. It’s not a view fed by ‘propaganda’ or the blindeless belief in More or Rous. Whereas, you may find that those with one-dimensional views towards Team Lancaster just hit you up with things like ‘Edward of Westminster was sadistic’, Margaret of Anjou was a scheming harpy, uncaring of what happened to England and who serially cheated on her husband. Not to mention the famous: ‘Henry VII was a massive miser who replaced his wife with his mother and kept her powerless and repressed’.
In Conclusion, Those stuck whereas Rous’ drabbles did not because those are all intelligent twists of the truth and believable, or at least more plausible than a man with a massive hunchback and a row of teeth from birth.

Ok, here's a prompt: bughead + their friends trying to trap the two of them under the mistletoe
I loved that this entire thing played out in my head in 2.6 seconds after reading this. Send me a prompt!
——–
“And where do you think you’re going?”
Archie was yanked back almost off his feet when Veronica grabbed the back of his shirt.
“The sna-”
She tutted and shook her head. “If you ruin this for me Andrews -”
With a gasp, Veronica pointed towards the archway where she’d hung an obnoxiously large bunch of mistletoe. Archie watched as Jughead walked towards it from the right, nodding at the occasional person while he grazed off the snack table. From the opposite end of the room, Betty and Ethel chatted as they made their way towards the kitchen. Before their paths met, Jughead was pulled into conversation with Dilton while Betty and Ethel continued on towards the kitchen.
Veronica huffed and stomped her foot. Frustration radiated off her and Archie saw yet another long drawn-out strategy session in his future, only this time instead of mistletoe it would involve champagne, countdowns, and midnight kissing.
For close to six months Veronica had been plotting for a relationship to happen between their respective best friends. Archie wanted the best for Betty, he always had. And Veronica wanted the same for her friend nee high school frenemy Jughead. But like two stubborn, obtuse ships in the night, the pair had terrible timing.
“Wouldn’t it just be easier to ask if they wanted to double?”
Veronica rolled her eyes. “This has to happen organically. If Jughead knew I was trying to interfere in his lack of a love-life he’d refuse to speak to me until I swore on my abuelita’s Bible and my first edition of Bradley’s 1896 Harper’s Bazaar.”
“But it would be easier -”
“It’s about the romance, Archibald. The once in a lifetime chance -”
“Of your underpants in France,” Reggie finished as he stopped next to them. He handed Archie a plastic cup overfilled with beer.
“I’m surrounded by infants,” Veronica said with a curled lip. She shot Reggie a withering look and went after Betty.
“What’s her deal?”
“Romance,” Archie said, though the word was a question that lingered in the air long enough to turn stale.
“That’s why she brought in the giant bouquet of hookup material,” Reggie said with a smirk. He tilted his head up at Josie across the room only to receive a peal of laughter in response. “She digs me.”
Archie shrugged and took a careful sip of the drink. Pabst. He fought back a grimace and set the cup down on the table behind him. It was worth getting yelled at for rings on the wood if it meant he didn’t have to drink that.
“So, who’s she trying to set up this time?” Reggie asked none the wiser.
“Bet- some of our mutual friends.” Archie caught himself in time. The last thing he needed was a primer from Betty and Veronica’s mutual ex about how to chase after either one of them.
“Bet you five bucks and a shot of Tabasco she’ll have a toll booth set up around that mistletoe before the end of the night.
Archie shook his head. “No bet. She’s already staking out potential quarantine areas. Twenty and a shot of chocolate syrup and vinegar she’ll come up with an elaborate reason to take a photo under the mistletoe.”
“Nah, too amateur hour,” Reggie scoffed.
“It’s always amateur hour where you two are,” Moose said as he joined them.
He and Reggie fist-bumped a greeting. Sensing a golden opportunity, Archie picked up his abandoned beer and handed it to Moose who gladly downed it in one go.
“What’s going on this time?” Moose asked as he wiped his lip.
“Veronica’s playing matchmaker,” Archie and Reggie said in unison.
Moose turned a shade of green even the Grinch would be jealous of. Archie squeezed his shoulder in sympathy. Veronica’s attempts to set up her friends were practically legendary. The rumors, as yet still unconfirmed, about what happened the last time Veronica subjected Moose to her romantic machinations were enough to make everyone think thrice about accepting any invitation to a Lodge social gathering.
“I think I need something stronger,” Moose muttered. He shoved his plate of half finished food into Reggie’s hand and rushed to find something stronger that might erase that night before last Christmas from his mind.
“Do I want to know why Moose looks like the wrong end of an elf?” Kevin asked as he sidled up to them.
He handed them both a small piece of paper and a golf pencil. In his other hand he held a tin can wrapped in candy cane paper.
“Christmas movie, sex position, and favorite celebrity for dirty mad-libs. Why is Veronica glaring at Midge harder than Margaret Thatcher serving turkey dinner at a homeless shelter?”
“Matchmaking,” Reggie said as he scribbled something down on a piece of paper. “My money’s on her holding us hostage until they kiss. Thirty dollars and…. an egg, cilantro, and maple shot.”
Kevin gagged and shoved the paper into his tin can. “No bet. She’s been blocking out this friend-fiction scene for weeks now. I’m surprised she didn’t lock them in a closet with a neon sign that says ‘Now Kiss’.”
Archie handed over his own paper. “Friend fiction?”
“Dude,” Reggie sighed. “You really need to catch up on Kevin’s blog. Wait, is Midge single again?”
They watched as Reggie waded out into the crowd ever hopeful.
“He really can’t stand being alone for a single night, huh?” Kevin asked as if Reggie’s philandering ways were a blight upon his very soul. “Why can’t Veronica just -”
“Romance,” Archie said in an attempt to mimic Veronica’s dramatics. “Organic, once-in-a-life-time -”
“Bibbity Bobbity Boo, what’s that witch of yours now up to?”
“Cheryl,” Kevin said by way of greeting. The smile on his face was tight enough to stretch tinsel. “Don’t you have presents to steal?”
“Charming.” When he didn’t move Cheryl’s smile dropped into a sneer. “This is a two way conversation, so see your way out of it.”
“That’s not even the right -” Kevin shook his head and muttered, “whatever,” as he turned to a different partygoer with papers in hand.
Archie eyed Cheryl warily; the last time she wanted to have a chat he’d ended up at a charity auction event that required very little clothes and Mantle levels of self-esteem.
“Don’t worry, Archiekins,” Cheryl said with a smile. She pressed a finger into the middle of his forehead. “You’ll get frown lines like that.”
“What do you want Cheryl?”
“Jughead and Toni are friends, right?”
Archie nodded.
“Has he mentioned anything about her?” Cheryl asked, her smile becoming as forced as Santa coming down the chimney. “I mean, about what she might want for Christmas? We haven’t even been dating a year, so diamonds are obviously too much, and probably a trip to the Cacos, that’s more of a year-anniversary trip, but -”
Archie knew from personal experience that it was best to jump in quickly in these types of conversations. He’d had a similar conversation with Veronica last year over a ‘normal’ person’s gift budget. She’d been so stuck on what Betty might want for Christmas Veronica had almost missed that it wasn’t the present that mattered so much as the thought behind it. Still, Betty had been over the moon about the new wrench set even Archie had gotten a thank you note from her.
“She likes photography?” he offered. “Is there a gallery opening you could take her to, then dinner? Sometimes just being together is more important than anything you could buy her.”
Cheryl frowned. “Oh you poor naive thing. What has Veronica been teaching you? But, I will admit, photography is a good idea. Your girlfriend chasing people out of the kitchen, not so much.”
Archie turned and found that Veronica had, indeed, cleared out the kitchen of everyone but Betty and Ethel who watched her with curiosity. Veronica then proceeded to drag Jughead towards the kitchen all the while waving for Betty to join them. In the confusion, Ethel met Jughead under the mistletoe.
Obligingly she pecked him on the check to Veronica’s increasing consternation.
“I’ll be back,” Archie said before rushing over to keep his girlfriend from causing a scene large enough to get her back onto Santa’s naughty list.
Much, much later that night, at a time when all the good little children were dreaming of sugarplums and sending fruitcakes to all their teachers, Jughead and Betty were putting lost solo cups and abandoned utensils in a large trash bag. Veronica insisted they weren’t obligated to help, but Betty had volunteered and Jughead followed suit. Now the living room was almost back to normal, if one ignored the candy canes stuck to the ceiling.
“Did you notice Veronica being weird tonight?” Jughead asked as he up a precarious tower of trash.
“You mean how she was desperately trying to trap you under the mistletoe?” Betty said with a note of amusement in her voice despite the dark stain of cherry syrup that stained the cuff of her sweater.
Jughead looked up at the archway, understanding dawning on his face as if it were the first time he’d seen it that night. “Huh. Guess that’s why the kitchen was on lockdown. I thought it was Archie’s tuna salad.”
“For someone so observant, you can be rather oblivious” Betty laughed and set another stack of cups in the trash.
He grinned, a sly quirk of his mouth that drew her attention. “Too bad she wasted so much time. I am spoken for after all.”
Betty bit her lower lip and met him under the archway, her hips leading the way. She slipped her arms around his neck and pulled him closer. “It would be bad luck to break tradition.”
“Very bad luck.” He slipped his hands around her waist and tucked them into the back pockets of her jeans. “Might carry over into the next year. And I had such high hopes for where this was going.”
Jughead leaned down to press a kiss to Betty’s collarbone. His nose brushed along her neck and she drew in a sharp breath.
“Elizabeth Ann Cooper!” came a scandalized voice. “I hope you have a good explanation for this.”
They broke apart only to find Veronica staring at them, mouth agape. Behind her Archie raised his own trash bag in a congratulatory salute.
“It’s a Christmas miracle?” Betty said with a half smile and a shrug.
“And there’s the bad luck,” Jughead muttered.
Veronica, however, wasn’t having it. She stormed over and dragged Betty along behind her to the kitchen.
“So,” Archie said. “Halloween party?”
“Yeah.”
“Cool.”
Jughead gave him a sidelong glance. “That’s it? No ‘How did it happen’? No ‘Is it serious’? Nothing?”
Archie shrugged. “This is all Veronica’s going to talk about until next Christmas. And she refuses to leave any detail out. Dining room next?”
“Sure.”
Jughead followed him to the dining room. On the way, Veronica yelled out, “You’re next Jones!”
Normally the threat would have sent shivers down his spine, but Betty’s amused glance that held the promise of later made it all worth it.

everything hurts
And then I felt sad because I realized that once people are broken in certain ways, they can't ever be fixed, and this is something nobody ever tells you when you are young and it never fails to surprise you as you grow older as you see the people in your life break one by one. You wonder when your turn is going to be, or if it's already happened. - Douglas Coupland
I wish you had enough discipline for the both of us. Just because I don't know how to turn off the way I feel. I know you always fell out love so damn easily. But honestly, I don't think you ever had something real. - Chelsea Cutler
You think you can change a guy, that he’ll be different with you, that you’ll finally be the one to tame him... and before you know it, you’re alone in your underwear at nine o’clock on a Saturday night, crying to Adele songs, eating ice cream straight from the gallon, and wondering what the hell is the matter with you that you fell for such a goddamned man-child, after he explicitly warned you not to. - Julie Johnson
There is part of me that wants an answer and part of me that doesn't want to know. Part of you that I am in love with and the part that I am willing to let go. This is a delicate unraveling now and then I find pieces on the floor. Tiny little bits that tell me maybe I shouldn't do this or love you anymore. - Mandy Moore
I am a collection of dismantled almosts. - Anne Sexton
People are afraid of themselves, of their own reality; their feelings most of all. People talk about how great love is, but that’s bullshit. Love hurts. Feelings are disturbing. People are taught that pain is evil and dangerous. How can they deal with love if they’re afraid to feel? Pain is meant to wake us up. People try to hide their pain. But they’re wrong. Pain is something to carry, like a radio. You feel your strength in the experience of pain. It’s all in how you carry it. That’s what matters. Pain is a feeling. Your feelings are a part of you. Your own reality. If you feel ashamed of them, and hide them, you’re letting society destroy your reality. You should stand up for your right to feel your pain. - Jim Morrison
I feel you crumble in my arms down to your heart of stone. You bled me dry just like the tears you never show. Why don't you take what you want from me? Take what you want and go. - Austin Post
Erase your touch, it's all too much for me. - Billie Eilish
It has been said, 'time heals all wounds.' I do not agree. The wounds remain. In time, the mind, protecting its sanity, covers them with scar tissue and the pain lessens. But it is never gone. - Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy
Nothing is absolute. Everything changes, everything moves, everything revolves, everything flies and goes away. - Frida Kahlo
Sure I loved him - too much. And he loved me, only not enough. I just want someone who thinks I’m number one in his life. I’m not willing to accept emotional scraps anymore. - Amy Tan
If you’re searching for a quote that puts your feelings into words – you won’t find it. You can learn every language and read every word ever written – but you’ll never find what’s in your heart. How can you? He has it. - Ranata Suzuki
Love is so short, forgetting is so long. - Pablo Neruda
People with depression have something very valuable to teach us...how to live when it doesn't ever feel good. - Kay Warren
Yes, I understand why things had to happen this way. I understand his reason for causing me pain. But mere understanding does not chase away the hurt. - Jocelyn Soriano
I desire the things that will destroy me in the end. - Sylvia Plath

May you never feel what I then felt! May your eyes never shed such stormy, scalding, heart-wrung tears as poured from mine. May you never appeal to Heaven in prayers so hopeless and so agised as in that hour left my lips: for never may you, like me, dread to be the instrument of evil to what you wholly love. - Charlotte Brontë
The loneliest moment in someone’s life is when they are watching their whole world fall apart, and all they can do is stare blankly. - F. Scott Fitzgerald

Silence bounced, fell off his tongue and sat between us and clogged my throat. It slaughtered my trust. We exchanged blind words, and I did not cry, I did not beg, but blackness filled my ears, blackness lunged in my heart, and something that had been good, a sort of kindly oxygen, turned into a gas oven. - Anne Sexton
Don't you know I'm no good for you? I've learned to lose you, can't afford to. Tore my shirt to stop you bleeding but nothing ever stops you leaving. Don't you know too much already? I'll only hurt you if you let me. Call me friend but keep me closer. But nothing is better sometimes. Once we've both said our goodbyes, let's just let it go, let me let you go. - Billie Ellish
Was I heartbroken or furious? I didn’t know. I did know: that’s it. Our relationship could not continue like this, out of balance, unequal. And as surely as I knew this, I knew something else: But of course it can. We can continue to live exactly as we do right now, in a heavy-lidded state of love and unspeakable compromise. Isn’t that what people do? Every day? Don’t they ache but rename it tired? It made me wonder: Was it even fair to expect the person you’re with to be just as happy as you? Furthermore, how could you ever even know for sure? You couldn’t, was the truth of it. You could not know this. - Augusten Burroughs
Hearts can break. Yes, hearts can break. Sometimes I think it would be better if we died when they did, but we don’t. - Stephen King
No one ever tells you how much a heartbreak physically hurts. How it literally feels like you've been kicked down the stairs. How you can't swallow. How every muscle aches. How your heart lurches inside you like it's been poisoned. Nobody tells you that. - Holly Bourne
A divorce is like an amputation: You survive it, but there's less of you. - Margaret Atwood
Con cada amor volvemos a nacer y con cada amor que termina se nos abre una herida. Estoy llena de orgullosas cicatrices. - Isabel Allende
No amount of soul searching would fix my past. There was no magical Band-Aid I could stick on my heart, no special glue I could use to make myself whole again. I had shattered to pieces like a fragile vase on concrete; some fragments could be roughly cobbled back together, but many of my vital parts had simply turned to dust, pulverized and scattered by the first gust of wind. - Julie Johnson
Tears are words that need to be written. - Paulo Coelho
So now if I figure this out, apart from my beating heart, it's a muscle but it's still not strong enough to carry the weight of the choices I've made. - Halsey
What if love is something that shapes us because of what we give, not what we get in return? What if God wants us to love people until it hurts and then continue to love even more? - Chelsea Rotunno
And if only you could see yourself in my eyes, you'd see you shine, you shine. I know you'd never leave me behind but I am lost this time. What if the love you deserve is love you never find? I've learned in love and death, we don't decide. - Dermont Kennedy

I let my guard down and then you pulled the rug. I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved. - Lewis Capaldi
Passion may fade. Affection may wane. A heart may change. Falling in love can be a risky act if your love flows like driving a race car full speed ahead down the freeway. Risk assessment is needed for a romantic venture. - Florence Chow

She loved him. But he didn’t know how to love. He could talk about love. He could see love and feel love. But he couldn’t give love. He could make love. But he couldn’t make promises. She had desperately wanted his promises. She wanted his heart, knew she couldn’t have it so she took what she could get. Temporary bliss. Passionate highs and lows. Withdrawal and manipulation. So it’s true, when all is said and done, grief is the price we pay for love. - E.A. Bucchianeri
Mental pain is less dramatic than physical pain, but it is more common and also more hard to bear. The frequent attempt to conceal mental pain increases the burden: it is easier to say “My tooth is aching” than to say “My heart is broken.” - C.S. Lewis

I was never one to patiently pick up broken fragments and glue them together again and tell myself that the mended whole was as good as new. What is broken is broken - and I’d rather remember it as it was at its best than mend it and see the broken places as long as I lived. - Margaret Mitchell

This is what it felt like to have a broken heart. It felt less like a cracking down the middle and more like she had swallowed it whole and it sat bruised and bleeding in the pit of her stomach. - Wendy Wunder
It's a shame you left without a word, you know. She was just beginning to trust you before that. Before you got angry. Before you ran off. Just like every other man in her life. Lusting after her, full of sweet words, then just walking away. Leaving her alone. Good thing she's used to it by now, isn't it? Otherwise you might have hurt her. Otherwise you just might have broken that poor girl's heart. - Patrick Rothfuss

Disney Princesses as Jane Austen heroines? The only post I've seen drawing comparisons between them said Fanny Price was most like Tiana when they have very little in common imo. I think she might be most like Cinderella, if not as assertive. I would love to know your opinion.
The rest of the "cast" in that post I mentioned was as follows: Snow White as Kitty Bennet, Cinderella as Harriet Smith, Aurora as Jane Bennet, Ariel as Marianne Dashwood, Belle as Elizabeth Bennet (obviously), Jasmine as Emma Woodhouse, Pocahontas as Catherine Morland, Mulan as Jane Fairfax and Rapunzel as Margaret Dashwood. I wonder what you think of this comparison.
Hi! I’m so so so so sorry it took me this long to answer. Shame on me.
It is tricky to draw parallels. I think it is easier to draw parallels between the structure of the stories. For example, yes, Beauty and the Beast and Pride and Prejudice and notoriously, Frozen and Sense and Sensibility.
The Fanny Price = Tiana thing can only come from someone who didn’t read the novel and only watched the 1999 movie. If I were to choose a Disney princess that reflected Fanny Price, that would be Cinderella, exactly as you say. Something similar happens with Margaret Dashwood and Rapunzel. Margaret doesn’t really have much character in the novel, so the characterization the author is thinking of comes from the 1996 movie (And Andrew Davies’ rip-off in 2008)
The one I think is spot on is Aurora as Jane Bennet. I find interesting the Jasmine = Emma, Mulan = Jane Fairfax and Ariel = Marianne.
If I were the one choosing... It depends on which side you are trying to fill (either Austen characters to match the princesses or princesses to match Austen characters).
Catherine Morland: I don’t see Pocahontas in her. I’d choose either Ariel or Rapunzel.
Lizzy Bennet: here is something that is a pet peeve of mine: Lizzy Bennet is not a bookworm. I repeat, she’s not a bookworm. Joe Wright Belleified her character. The thing Belle and her have in common is they love their fathers (and the general trope of their stories). Lizzie is outdoorsy, she loves long walks and sightseeing. My choice would be between Jane from Tarzan and Pocahontas.
Jane Bennet: Aurora, no doubt.
Eleanor Dashwood: Elsa. Don’t kill me, I know she’s not really that wise, but Frozen rips off so much from Austen story that it leaves me no option.
Marianne Dashwood: Anna. Ditto.
Fanny Price: as I said above, Cinderella or maybe Snow White.
Emma Woodhouse: I see the parallels the article found and they are clever: handsome, clever, rich, naive, cares for her father, etc. But Emma is meddlesome and scheming and Jasmine is not. I don’t think there’s a Disney princess that fits closer. You would have to throw in some of Gisselle too.
Jane Fairfax: I like the secret part they see as something in common with Mulan, but I think Jane is closer to Tiana, in that she isn’t afraid of hard work, and in fact spent her whole life working hard to make her family proud and keep a place with the Campbells. But not really one that bears a very close resemblance.
Anne Elliot: the hardest of them all XD Older princess? Withered beauty? Abused by her family? Love interest makes her suffer because of her refusal? She does have some similarities with Elinor, so maaaybe Elsa too... or Megara? with some Kira thrown in the middle?, but it is such a looooong stretch that... meh. I did want Disney to take the remake of B&tB as an opportunity to have an older Belle that has had no suitors other than Gaston and that fears for her future, when her father dies, which would have been a far more realistic feminine problem at the place and time setting of the story than “we don’t want women to read”. But Disney executives don’t listen to me XD
What do you think?
